Out of all the card games out there, Blackjack is by far one of the most popular, if not the most popular. I think that one of the main reasons for this is due to ease of play and the overall enjoyment and fun it brings. Adding to the popularity is the seemingly increased odds of winning. When playing against a dealer, your chances of beating the house are greater than that of other casino card games. Also, blackjack can be played almost anywhere, all you need is a deck of cards and you are set to go. There are even blackjack table tops that you can buy to make your playing experience at home that much more enjoyable and convenient, you can trasform your generic kitchen table into a casino style felt playin surface. Blackjack is by one of my favorite games, try to work it into your next family game night.

The World Series of Poker is almost over, don’t miss out on the final event tonight at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT on ESPN or ESPN3.com. The November Nine started playing on the 6th and the nine quickly dwindled down to three phenomenal poker players. Pius Heinz, Ben Lamb, and Martin Staszko are going to compete for the final prize and will be known as the next World Series of Poker champion. Pius Heinz is the current chip leader he has almost double the amount of chips that Ben Lamb has so he is off to a good start, the odds are in his favor at the moment. Ben Lamb has 55,400,000 poker chips putting him in second out of the three and Martin Staszko has the shortest stack but isn’t to far behind Lamb with 42,700,000. It should be an exciting match up all three poker players are good at what they do.

Technology is making it easier and easier for gambling. I just recently read an article about how Cantor Gaming,  a sports book in Nevada, has launched an Android compatible application that allows for sports wagering via you Android phone or tablet. This application will only work within the state of Nevada, but this is just one example of how technology is advancing and helping the gambling world.

 These technologies are evident if you have recently set foot in a casino. Casinos stay on top of technology in order to have the best games and for security reasons. These technologies generally make for a better experience at the casino as the games become better and more in-depth. Technology will make the gambling and casino experience much more enjoyable.

If you are still using paper cards then it is definitely time to upgrade and get new cards. It is proven that plastic playing cards will last up to a 100 times longer than regular plastic coated paper cards. Plastic playing cards are more durable and way cleaner than paper cards so you won’t have to miss out on valuable poker playing time to get a new deck of cards.

They will last for many games of poker. With the exception of the Main Event final table, the 2010 World Series of Poker has been complete for about a month.  The excitement will start to air on August 10th when ESPN begins to show main event footage.  You can expect the November final table to be exciting and fun to watch, since previous years with this format have proven to be a success.

The 2010 World Series of Poker schedule ran for over one full month ,beginning on May 28th of this year and ending July 5th.  With this long schedule, many die hard poker players that don’t already live in Las Vegas, generally relocate to Vegas for the length of the World Series.  Now that is taking your chosen profession seriously.

If you have been hosting a regular game for a while it may be time for a new set of poker chips.  Even if the old chips are doing just fine, you and your players will appreciate the fresh new poker chips.  Many options are available in today’s poker chip market.

A nice touch for a unique poker chip set is to customize the chips in a way that makes them one of a kind.  This can be accomplished in one of two basic ways.  The first way is with hot stamping.  This method allows for a single color customization by stamping a custom design into each poker chip.  However, you can stamp each side of the poker chips with a different design.  For example, a custom logo on one side of each chip and a denomination on the other side of each chip.

The other method of poker chip customization is labels.  Labels offer endless color options and more intricate designs.  Therefore if you have a multi color logo and you want to put it on a poker chip without sacrificing any of the colors, custom labeled poker chips will be the best solution.

After much talk and activity we finally decided to host another home poker game for our friends.  The guys were really anxious to play, since it had been a while.  Without much consideration at all it was decided to turn the event into a cookout also.  There is just something about the nice spring weather that makes you want to get together with friends and grill out.

This is where things begin to go sideways.  We had not used the gas grill in ages and it had been mostly outside, but under it’s vinyl cover.  We still had 2 weeks until the event, so I decided to test the grill and to get the propane bottles refilled.  Boy am I glad that there was plenty of time until the poker tournament.  The grill needed a couple of parts and it took about a week and a half to get them.  Finding the parts online was not too hard after finding a good gas grill parts website.  Sure is amazing what you can do with the internet these days.

Anyway, the cookout was a big success and the poker tournament was big fun.  So much fun, that we have another one scheduled for next month.

Jeff Shulman, the president of CardPlayer Magazine is a hot topic in the poker world. Jeff is not only the president of a popular “poker” limelight magazine, but he has managed to win a spot at this years final table at the World Series of Poker Main Event. This is not his first time in being among the Nine clan, as he also played in the 2000 Main Event. Falling short in the 2000 event, many feel that this time he will be a big threat at the table. We will soon find out, since November 7th is now here.

That’s right, once again November has rolled back around and for many November represents more than Thanksgiving. To poker enthusiasts this month marks the event they have waited for all year, the World Series of Poker Main Event final table. Nine players from all around the globe have won their way to the Main Event Final Table by out playing over 1,400 other entrants. The event starts on Nov. 7th and will likely end sometime in the early morning hours on Nov. 10th. There are lots of fresh faces this year among the veterans. Wishing them all luck at this exciting chance to win millions and the prestigious WSOP Bracelet.
