Host a Weekly Poker Night

If you have fallen victim to the monotony and stress of a long work week, let me recommend one surefire way to break it and make your week more bearable. Hosting your friends at your home once a week for an evening of poker games can really help you to un-wind and forget the problems in your office. Take this from someone who has been hosting a weekly poker night for the past few years. It has seriously improved my work week and has given me something to look forward to each week. There are just a few things that you will need in order to make your game night the best it can be.

The first thing I would recommend to you is to invest in some type of poker table or playing surface. While a kitchen or dinning room table can work, playing a poker game on a dedicated surface with player positions and betting areas will make the game experience that much more enjoyable. Since poker has been gaining support throughout the country and world, the market has been flooded with poker gaming products. Table top units work perfect for starting out. They are easy to set up and break down with storage being a breeze. Another added plus is that they are easy to transport, so if the poker night has to be moved to a different location you can take the playing surface with you.

The second recommendation I would have for is to get a quality poker chip set. Chip sets are always a good way to go because they normally include everything you need for a poker night; poker chips, dealer button, big and little blind buttons, and a carry case. These poker chip sets come in a variety of sizes, so depending on the size of your game night getting an adequate set shouldn’t be a problem. Also, you can order single chips, so experimenting with different styles to find the ones you like is easy.

The last recommendation I have is to upgrade from traditional paper cards to plastic playing cards. KEM and Copag are reliable manufactures of plastic playing cards. Plastic playing cards may seem a little pricey at the beginning, but they pay off in the long run with their longevity. Plastic cards last much longer than paper cards, if your game night becomes a tradition then you can easily burn through paper cards, while plastic cards will last session after session.

These are just a few recommendations I have learned that make a game night more enjoyable. The best way that you can really learn what works best for you is to play and learn from first hand experience. So get your friends together and do away with some of that stress. Play some Poker!
